Is Scream Queens ok for 13 year olds? ›

Very gory for a PG-13 show. A masked character has a chainsaw brought down onto their neck, which cuts through it and decapitates them. In an episode, a character's insides can be seen after a bloody kill off camera. Contains moments of moderate to strong violence and gore throughout the series.

Couples have sex with moaning and thrusting (no nudity). Many references to and jokes about sex, oral sex, casual sex, group sex. Jokes about a gay character "touching the wiener" of a straight character.

The show also has plenty of sexual innuendo, salty language, and violent imagery. It's not appropriate for tweens, but teens who can handle this sort of thing might get a kick out of watching what goes into making the ultimate horror flick.

Very exciting but some scenes you may have to skip as they can get awesomely sexual and gory and can have some rude humour. Please be aware there is a lot a of swearing and violence so it's up to you if you think your kid is mature enough to watch it!

But don't be lulled by the star power and satire: The violence here is brutal, intense, and gory. Though the thrilling pace, high school drama, and steady jolts will likely keep young audiences watching, this movie is best for older teens and adults.

Falchuk isn't the only one who has expressed that Scream Queens was ahead of its time and might fare better now. Although Fox's official reason for canceling the show was that co-creator Ryan Murphy wanted it to end, Murphy has since expressed interest in returning to the show.

The sex scenes are actually not very inappropriate, to be honest. There is no nudity in the kissing scenes or sex scenes and there are barely any sex scenes anyway. Now for the talk about how scary it is.

"Scream VI" earned its R rating and it is the right call. It is similar to other films in the franchise, especially with the language. It's pretty spot on with earlier installments.

The show had a TV-14 rating on the MTV channel, but now has a TV-MA rating on Netflix because of how gory it is. If you look away on some of the gory parts, I'd say 14+, but if you look away on a lot of the gory parts, I'd say 13+. This title has: Too much violence.

Still, Common Sense Media recommends only kids over 16 should watch the franchise, including the requel. Having said that, parents on the site think it's safe for 14+, with kids weighing in that 13+ should be OK. Hey, what can we say — parenting's a crapshoot.
