The first Harry Potter movie landed in cinemas November 2001 - and although the filming ended in 2011, they are still watched by millions worldwide
It's been 13 years since the final Harry Potter movie - Deathly Hallows Part 2 - hit screens. For more than 10 years, the films were an integral part of many people's lives and still are to this day.
JK Rowling's novels were turned into films and put Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in the spotlight. The franchise also starred many other actors that were known well before the world of Hogwarts.
There were also several actors who played pivotal roles, though they weren't in many scenes. Although it's been a long time since filming wrapped, many Harry Potter actors have gone on to lead a successful career and perform in other Hollywood hits.
But what are they all up to now, as of 2024? Here's what we know about some of the most memorable stars:
Daniel Radcliffe
Since Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has gone on to play some great roles. From The Woman in Black and Imperium to The Lost City, the actor has had great success following the wizarding world.
According to IMDB, Daniel will be starring in Now You See Me 3 and Batso and the Wall. Though perhaps his most important role currently, is the role of dad. In April 2023, he became a father with partner Erin Darke.
Rupert Grint
Most famously known for playing Ron Weasley in Harry Potter, Rupert Grint has gone on to play some great roles in TV. You can find him on the TV series Snatch and Sick Note on Netflix, Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders on Amazon Prime Video, and Servant on Apple TV+.
In 2023, he returned to film after an eight-year absence in M. Night Shyamalan's Knock at the Cabin. Rupert is also a dad and welcomed a baby girl a couple of years ago with partner Georgia Groome who is famous for her role in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.
Emma Watson
Emma Watson who played Hermione Granger has has some great Hollywood roles. She starred in Perks of Being a Wallflower, the live action remake of Beauty and a Beast and featured in the 2019 adaption of Little Women.
On top of her acting accolades Emma graduated from Brown University with a bachelor's degree in English literature. Plus, she is an advocate for gender equality as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.
Alfred Enoch
In the Harry Potter films, Alfred Enoch played Dean Thomas, a Hogwarts student and part of the Gryffindor House. Following the films, he has gone on to have a very successful career.
In 2014, Alfred starred in the hit TV series How to Get Away With Murder. He played one of the main characters alongside Viola Davies and starred in 50 episodes.
Most recently, he played the male protagonist in the adaptation of The Couple Next Door. But Alfred is currently playing the lead in Pericles at The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon. This is his RSC debut and the play runs until October this year.
Tom Felton
Tom Felton played Harry's nemesis Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series. He starred in all eight films but since they wrapped, Tom has been in several indie films.
These include The Forgotten Battle, Braking for Whales and Save the Cinema. According to IMDB, Tom will feature Gandhi, Altered and Canyon Del Muerto which are all said to be in production.
Dame Maggie Smith
Already famous well before her role in Harry Potter, Dame Maggie Smith starred as Professor McGonagall. From 2010, Maggie played Violet Grantham in Downton Abbey.
The series ran for six years but there have also been several Downton Abbey films. On top of that, the actor also starred in The Lady in the Van, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and A Boy Called Christmas.
Harry Melling
Starring as Dudley Worsley, Harry Melling played a rather unpopular character as he and his family were very cruel to the wizard as he was growing up. After his part in the magical world though, Harry has continued to work on screen.
He has played parts in several Netflix series including The Old Guard, The Devil All the Time, The Pale Blue Eye and most notably The Queen's Gambit.
Fiona Shaw
Fiona Shaw played Dudley's mother Petunia and was also Harry's aunt. She was the sister of Lily Potter and a very bitter character.
Aside from Harry Potter, Fiona Shaw's acting career has been vast and successful. Most recently, she appeared in cartoon film IF, she played a therapist in BBC's hit show Fleabag and also starred in Killing Eve.
She's also got several up and coming shows, according to IMDB, including an adaption of Hot Milk, Anansi Boys and Park Avenue.
